I've always loved to draw and I love being in nature, so it was only natural for me to study both in college. Natural History Illustration was my focus in college where I submerged myself in the redwood forest and rocky coastline of Humboldt State University where I earned a BFA. My dream was to create a link tying people together with science and the natural world. I still enjoy taking on projects with this kind of illustration, but now I am becoming more and more interested in illustration for children's literature. The creative possibilities are endless and so exciting, and I love giving words a face and personality! I'm such a visual learner, and find it really dynamic interpreting words into pictures.
